Bikini or hiphugger? Cotton or lace? With a variety of styles and colors to choose from, us gals have options galore when it comes to selecting our skivvies. But what about a pair of panties that's all about the three C's: cute, comfortable and convertible?
Chiquillas, I have found the perfect combination of practical and pretty, and it's called Urban Undercover. Their story began with Sairey, the creator of the line, and Cheryl, the technical designer of the brand, who joined forces to create cute + comfy underwear with functionality. What's so functional about undergarments, you ask? Well, besides the super-cool folding capability that reminds me of this gem from the 80s, it has a POCKET that you can store extra "necessities" for when you're on-the-go.
I was chatting with Sairey earlier to find out her inspiration:
The wrong underwear take away from your outfit, and instead of getting her panties in a twist (cheesy pun, oh-so intended), Sairey decided to design something that was just her style; something simple and classic that made a statement: Panties...with a twist! As someone who loves to travel, Sairey wanted something that felt good and fit well. "A lot of people try to do the one-size-fits-all thing, and it just doesn't work for everyone. It looks good on the model or on the hanger, and then you put it on and you're like 'WHOA, this doesn't fit' or you're just uncomfortable."
But, uh, isn't it uncomfortable to carry things in your underwear?
"The pocket reaches the curve at the small of your back, so it's not uncomfortable in the least. Don't get me wrong, at first you notice something is there, but after awhile you tend to forget." She usually carries her phone in the pocket, but it's perfect for keys, cash and any other extras.
Sairey is a real doll, and her project has gained support from some major publications and backers all over the world like Lucky, Trendhunter Fashion, Buzzfeed + yours truly. They've recently added a stretch goal to offer more dainty and durable laces and fabrics to the line, so be sure to take a look at their Kickstarter page and the video above to get involved.
What extra goodies do you take along with you when you're on-the-go?
