In today's rush we all think too much, seek too much,
want too much, and forget about the joy of just Being.

Beyond the colorfully plated posts of the #eatclean trend, more and more individuals (yours truly included) are looking to find wellness by taking a road very much less traveled these days in our ever-so-social society: the route from within.
Mindfulness has thus stepped out into an even brighter spotlight, and it's bringing along its age-old friend, meditation. Cultivating awareness is easier said than done, but doing so--plus combining this technique with meditation--can really improve quality of life. Some benefits of meditation may include:
On the road, at the office, and often times en casa, it can be somewhat of a project to find some quiet time to yourself. If you're looking to get started, one of the best mediation apps for guided or self-guided meditation is the Calm App developed by Calm.com.
Meditating can be intimidating, especially if you're new to the practice, but once you enter the website, you'll get a full-screen taste of what the app offers. (Open it now as you read this...seriously!) Ideal for beginners, it lets you choose from 7 guided meditations, 10 nature scenes and sounds to select, and 2 to 20-minute sessions, or start with a 2-minute guided meditation and work your way up to twenty minutes.
Going mobile means being able to take it with you wherever you are (Ojo: WiFi necessary!), but I like to keep the app open--or a separate tab if I'm tinkering around on the computer--to listen and maintain focus.
The company has raised a whopping $578K for funding to continue guiding users towards a relaxing meditatation session or a more soundful sleep. While the app is free, opt for the $10 annual package if you want access to 50 premium guided meditations.
Set yourself a reminder: all it takes is FIVE minutes a day to reap the benefits of meditation. Think of it as dedicating time to take care of yourself; the bonus is that you'll eventually discover a more aware and insightful YOU.
